Mahnoor Shabir is a Pakistani girl who took her early education from Beaconhouse School Systen & was currently studying in Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). She was 21 years old, fighting a deadly disease known as cancer like a brave warrior. She was diagnosed cancer few years back & won the battle against it. But this battle was not over yet. She was recently diagnosed cancer, once again. Knowing about her disease, Mahnoor recently updated her facebook status on 18th January 2017, 7:31 p.m. saying; “Won a battle but the war against cancer isn’t over yet. Fortunately or unfortunately, it relapsed just a few days back. I am a 21 years who should be worrying about my quizzes and if I made it above the average, but instead I have to worry about my blood counts being in the normal range. I am 21 years old who should be worrying about my GPA, but instead I worry about the result of my biopsies. I am a 21 years old who should be searching for the best post grad universities abroad, instead I am searching for the best cancer clinics abroad. I am a 21 years old who should be rejoining her university again this week, instead I am getting hospitalized again. I am a 21 years old who should be worrying about a chipped nail, instead I worry about the effects of chemotherapy. I am a 21 years old who should be worrying about relationships, instead I worry about emotional attachment with almost anyone. I am a 21 years old who should be the one making trips to the hospital for her parents and wheeling them around, instead they are the ones doing it. But none of that upsets me, it makes me only more grateful that I am an extra ordinary 21 years old. I am a 21 years with incredible strength, willpower, resilience and courage to face one of the most deadliest maladies again. A second attempt may be frustrating but I believe it can be easy too. And it makes me grateful to have the most amazing and supportive parents out there. But I am a 21 years old who is nothing without Allah or the prayers that He answers. So I would request you all to keep me in your prayers as much as you can. No one knows when one of it might get accepted! ?”  And then she updated this on 28th January 2017, 2:00 a.m. “Please! Please! I beg you to all to keep remembering me in your prayers. And more than that, I need you to you to pray for my parents!” A few days back she passed away.

All her status reflect her love & desire for living life like a normal person. Her photos reflect the vivaciousness she bared in her heart. So many people among us who are blessed with a good health are so ungrateful to this blessing because we do not realize its value.. We should be thankful to Allah (S.W.T) for every little blessing we have.

We go to school, college, university or job everyday. We go out with friends, party, enjoy life. We live our life the way we want. We have no idea about the patients who are admitted in the hospital. They spend their every minute looking at the ceiling or walls, thinking about their recovery.

Parents wish that their children will take care of them & will be their support system when they will grow old. We have no idea how heartbreaking it is when parents sit in the hospital for hours, days, weeks or even months in hospital, waiting for their sick children to get well. It is even more heart wrenching when parents give birth to their children, bring them up & then bury their children in graves.

May Allah (S.W.T) bless all the sick people with healthy & long life!

May Allah (S.W.T) grant Mahnoor the highest rank in Jannah. May Allah (S.W.T) bless her parents, family & friends with infinite patience!

Hats off to all the cancer patients, who are fighting this deadly disease. Just know you are not alone. Somewhere, someone is fighting for his/her survival & life.

There has been a question by those who have an oily skin that using serums & moisturizers make the skin oily? No definitely not. It is important to find the right kind of product you need. Applying serums, moisturizers & facial oils on oily skin doesn’t make the skin oilier infact it stops the skin from producing its own oils to keep it hydrated which can be a reason of breakouts.

Age spots are not just a reason of aging. Age spots can be caused due to several other reasons such as hormonal fluctuations, genetics & too much sun exposure. In order to prevent your skin, it is important to wear sunscreen all the time.

Yes, water is good for your skin. It helps to keep your skin hydrated but it won’t treat your dry skin. Many studies have compared the water content of dry skin to that of normal or oily skin, which shows that there isn’t a significant difference. The causes of dry skin are far more complicated than water consumption. So you need to apply serums, lotions & suitable oils to keep your skin from drying.

This is one of my favorite myths because there was a time when I believed that when bleach tingles that means its colouring my facial hair golden & cutting down all the dirt. But as I got more into cosmetology I understood that tingling means irritating your skin instead of helping it. So the tingling sensation on your skin means your skin is being irritated by the product.

Back in the days when makeup artistry was not so common it was said you can test a foundation by applying it on your wrist. Wait… No! No one ever told that your wrist tends to be lighter or darker than your face tone, therefore while choosing a foundation, test it on your jawline for the right shade.

As promised in our previous post Reason For Being Awayhere is our post about Cerebral Aneurysm.

It is said 1 in 50 people have a brain aneurysm. The annual rate of rupture is approximately 8 per 100,000 people or about 30,000 people in the United States suffer a ruptured brain aneurysm. There is a brain aneurysm rupturing every 18 minutes. Ruptured brain aneurysms are fatal in about 40% of cases. Of those who survive, about 66% will suffer some permanent deficit. There are almost 500,000 deaths worldwide due to ruptured brain aneurysms & half of the victims are younger than the age of 50.

So here we begin with the understanding of hypertension & cerebral aneurysms.

The pressure of the blood against the inner walls of the blood vessels, varying in different parts of the body during different phases of contraction of the heart & under different conditions of health, exertion, etc.

Cerebral or brain aneurysm is a cerebra-vascular disorder in which weakness in the wall of a cerebral artery or vein causes a localized dilation or ballooning of the blood vessel.

Hypertension is known to be a silent killer (by killing the person silently without any symptoms). Its silence can be very dangerous sometimes which can be fatal or can leave a serious morbidity behind. Hypertension may cause many health problems but this is article is written with the idea to provide you information about cerebral aneurysm.

The blood vessels are made up of three layers .i.e. tunica intima, media & adventitia.

When the Tunica Intima the inner most layer gets damaged usually due to high blood pressure or due to trauma, the vessel’s elasticity is compromised & the blood gets turbulence leading to the ballooning of vessel known as False Aneurysm formation. The True Aneurysm is said when all three layers of vessel is involved.

These Aneurysm can occur anywhere is the human body such as Abdominal Aorta or other blood vessels. If this aneurysm occurs with in the cranial cavity in the cerebral vessels it is known to be Cerebral Aneurysm.

Aneurysm is a weak bulging spot on the wall of a brain artery very much like a thin balloon or weak spot on an inner tube. Over time, the blood flow within the artery pounds against the thinned portion of the wall & aneurysms form silently from wear & tear on the arteries. As the artery wall becomes gradually thinner from the dilation, the blood flow causes the weakened wall to swell outward. This pressure may cause the aneurysm to rupture & allow blood to escape into the space around the brain, which may be Fatal or can be a serious Complication.

  1. SACCULAR ANEURYSM: It is a round shaped aneurysm that accounts for the vast majority of intracranial aneurysms. They are also the most common cause of non-traumatic subarachnoid haemorrhage.
  2. FUSIFORM ANEURYSM: Also known as Spindle Shaped Aneurysm. It is a variable in both diameter & length; their diameters can extend up to 20 cms.
  3. BERRY ANEURYSM: It is a small aneurysm that looks like a berry & classically occurs at the point at which a cerebral artery departs from the circular artery (the circle of Willis) at the base of the brain.
  4. MYCOTIC ANEURYSM: It is a localized, irreversible, atrial dilation due to destruction of the vessel wall due to infection.

  1. Smoking
  2. High blood pressure or Hypertension
  3. Congenital resulting from inborn abnormality in artery wall
  4. Family history of brain aneurysms
  5. Age over 40
  6. Gender, women compared with men have an increased incidence of      aneurysms at a ratio of 3:2
  7. Other disorders like Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Polycystic Kidney Disease, Marfan Syndrome & Fibromuscular Dysplasia(FMD)
  8. Presence of an arteriovenous malformation (AVM),
  9. Drug use, particularly cocaine
  10. Infection
  11. Tumor
  12. Traumatic head injury
  13. Hardening of the arteries (arteriosclerosis)
  14. Heavy alcohol consumption
  15. Certain blood infections
  16. Lower estrogen levels after menopause

Aneurysms are usually silent they will not let you know where and when you got the Aneurysm certain series of events & some features can let you know about an Aneurysm

  1. Pain above and behind an eye
  2. A dilated pupil
  3. Change in vision or double vision
  4. Numbness
  5. Weakness or paralysis of one side of the face
  6. A drooping eyelid.

  • Sudden, extremely severe headache

It is usually known as Subarachnoid Hemorrhage (SAH). It is presented with the typical feature of worst pain ever as the patient complains of a severe headache that he/she had never experienced before. Other features may include:

  1. Nausea and vomiting
  2. Stiff neck
  3. Blurred or double vision
  4. Sensitivity to light
  5. Seizure
  6. A drooping eyelid
  7. Loss of consciousness
  8. Confusion

Diagnosis is usually based on two things; a positive history with a positive series of events & radiological images.

  • MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI): MRI uses a magnetic field & radio waves to create detailed images of the brain, either 2-D slices or 3-D images. A type of MRI that assesses the arteries in detail (MRI angiography) may detect the site of a ruptured aneurysm.
  • COMPUTERIZED TOMOGRAPHY (CT): A CT scan, a specialized X-ray exam, is usually the first test used to determine if you have bleeding in the brain. The test produces images that are 2-D “slices” of the brain. With this test, you may also receive an injection of a dye that makes it easier to observe blood flow in the brain and may indicate the site of a ruptured aneurysm. This variation of the test is called CT angiography.
  • CEREBROSPINAL FLUID TEST: If you have had a subarachnoid hemorrhage, there will most likely be red blood cells in the fluid surrounding your brain and spine (cerebrospinal fluid). Your doctor will order a test of the cerebrospinal fluid if you have symptoms of a ruptured aneurysm but a CT scan has not shown evidence of bleeding. The procedure to draw cerebrospinal fluid from your back with a needle is called a Lumbar Puncture or Spinal Tap.
  • CEREBRAL ANGIOGRAM: During this procedure, your doctor inserts a thin, flexible tube (catheter) into a large artery — usually in your groin — & threads it past your heart to the arteries in your brain. A special dye injected into the catheter travels to arteries throughout your brain.
  • X-RAY IMAGES: They can then reveal details about the conditions of your arteries and the site of a ruptured aneurysm. This test is more invasive than others and is usually used when other diagnostic tests don’t provide enough information.

Treatment of depends upon the condition, size & location of aneurysm.

  • MEDICAL THERAPY: Small, unruptured aneurysms that are not creating any symptoms may not need treatment unless they grow, trigger symptoms or rupture. It is very important to have annual checkups to monitor blood pressure, cholesterol & other medical conditions. Small, unruptured aneurysms require regular imaging examinations to make sure that they have not grown or changed significantly.
  • NEUROSURGERY: Depending upon the person’s risk factors, open surgery may be recommended. Patients are placed under general anesthesia, an opening is made in the skull, the brain tissue is spread apart & the aneurysm is surgically exposed. Then the neurosurgeon places a surgical clip around its base. The clip seals off the aneurysm in a way that blood can not enter. For an uncomplicated surgical clipping procedure, the hospital stay is usually 4-6 days. Full recovery usually takes several weeks to months.
  • NEUROINTERVENTIONS / NEURORADIOLOGY: Depending on the aneurysm’s size, location & shape, it may be treatable from inside the blood vessel. This minimally invasive procedure is similar to the cerebral angiogram. However, in addition to taking pictures, a catheter is directed through the blood vessels into the aneurysm itself. Then, using X-ray guidance, the endovascular surgeon carefully places soft platinum micro-coils into the aneurysm and detaches them. The coils stay within the aneurysm and act as a mechanical barrier to blood flow, thus sealing it off. For an uncomplicated procedure, the hospital stay is usually 1-2 days. Recovery after the operation usually takes 5-7 days. For a complicated surgery or endovascular treatment, or if an aneurysm has bled into the brain, hospitalization may last from 1-4 weeks, depending on the patient’s medical condition & any complications caused by the hemorrhage.

  • SURGICAL CLIPPING: It is a procedure to close off an aneurysm. The neurosurgeon removes a section of your skull to access the aneurysm & locates the blood vessel that feeds the aneurysm. Then he/she places a tiny metal clip on the neck of the aneurysm to stop blood flow towards it.

  • ENDOVASCULAR COILING: It is a less invasive procedure than surgical clipping. The surgeon inserts a hollow plastic tube (catheter) into an artery, usually in your groin & threads it through your body to the aneurysm.

Other treatments for ruptured brain aneurysms are aimed at relieving symptoms & managing complications, which include:

  1. Pain relievers
  2. Calcium channel blockers
  3. Interventions to prevent stroke from insufficient blood flow
  4. Anti-seizure medications
  5. Ventricular or lumbar draining catheters & shunt surgery

Living with an aneurysm is like living with a tiny time bomb constantly ticking in your head. The worst thing is not knowing that you have a aneurysm.

  • RE-BLEEDING: It occurs in nearly 19% of SAH patients. SAH patients who experience re-bleeding at any time, approximately 70% will die. Re-bleeding is most likely to occur within the first 2 weeks of the SAH. Peak times within this time frame are within the first 24-48 hours & between 7-10 days.
  • VASOSPASM: It is the narrowing of a cerebral blood vessel due to irritation. Vasospasm results in reduced cerebral perfusion, cerebral ischemia, potential infarction & deterioration of neurological function. The mortality rate from vasospasm is between 40-50%.
  • HYDOCEPHALUS: It is a condition that occurs when fluid builds up in the skull & causes the brain to swell. The name means “water on the brain.”

Brain damage can occur as a result of the fluid buildup. This can lead to developmental, physical & intellectual impairments. It requires treatment to prevent serious complications.

  • HYPONATREMIA: Subarachnoid hemorrhage from a ruptured brain aneurysm can disrupt the balance of sodium in the blood supply. This may occur from damage to the hypothalamus, an area near the base of the brain. A drop in blood sodium levels (hyponatremia) can lead to swelling of brain cells & permanent damage.

Heartiest apologies to my readers! This is the longest time ever that I haven’t posted in a while. I was busy with my family & stuff, a lot has been going on. My father had a brain haemorrhage &  he was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm in November & he underwent surgical clipping that was a 9 hours long procedure. We were in the hospital for about a month, away from home, in another city. It was a very hard time. Alhamdulilah! By the grace of Allah (S.W.T) the surgery & treatment went successful.

As soon as we returned home, my exams were about to start in a week. I had to complete my thesis as well. Everything was completely messed up. I needed time to cope up with everything, therefore I took a long break from my blogging & social media. But now I am back with a bang, planning to start my youtube channel based on beauty & makeup. I have been dying to do this since years. Currently, I am working on starting my channel, also I will be posting 3-4 posts a week now. Also, I will be posting an article on BRAIN ANEURYSMS in collaboration with Dr. Faraz Khan for you people to know what an aneurysm is. I believe it is always good to have knowledge about things, especially health.

Here is the post on brain aneurysms, as promised:

For some people 2016 must have been an amazing year while for some people it must have been a hard one. Good or bad, it’s never too late to change your life! Life is a roller coaster with ups & downs. What ever happened last year is now gone. Today being the 1st page of a 365 paged book, its time to write a new one.

“A year from now you may wish you had started today.”

Its never too late to change your life & become what you want to be. If you don’t take a step today, you might regret it tomorrow. What is coming is better than what is gone. It’s time to sit alone for a while & decide what you want for yourself. It’s time to evaluate yourself & your life. It’s time to come up with realistic things you want to achieve or do this year & start working over those things from today. It’s never too late to change yourself & your life.

Make a box storage or jar, write things you want to achieve in 2017 & put them in that jar. Place the jar on a place that is visible & you can see everyday, so that it keeps on reminding you of your goals. In fact, you can also write little changes you want in yourself or in your life.

If you can not think so something big, start with small resolutions like;

  • Save Money
  • Take A Trip
  • Get Fit
  • Help Others
  • Do Something That Makes You Happy
  • Make Your Parents Proud
  • Eat Healthy
  • Make New Friends
  • Quit Smoking (For Smokers)
  • Love
  • More Family Time
  • Be Happy!

“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”

All you need to remember is,its never too late to late to change. What is coming is better than what is gone!

Coca-Cola is one of the world’s most popular beverage brand. But the ingredients in it pave the way to be so much more. Coca-Cola contains acids & other chemicals that are more typically used in pesticides & other cleaning products.

There are numerous ways that coke can be used that remain foreign to those of us accustomed to using it as a tool to wash down dinners.

Believe it or not! The use of Coca-Cola as a pesticide is not entirely heard of. In fact, it has become an entirely popular tool amongst some farmers in India for pest termination because it is cheaper & highly effective. Apparently, the high sugar content of the beverage can make it efficient in fighting pests. Even though the technique has grown increasingly commonplace in the world’s most populous country.
Now don’t expect to see this particular use for the product promoted in any upcoming coke commercials.

Coke has proven surprisingly successful in removing gum from hair. Simply place the sticky hair in a cup of the soft drink, let it sit for a few minutes & you are lucky to find that the gum becomes significantly easier to remove. The acids in the drink destroy the keratin in the hair & weaken them while hardening the gum. Thus providing a sharper contrast in texture to ease the separation. Thus providing a sharper contrast in texture to ease the separation.

Coca-Cola can serve as a viable chemical tool to dull your hair colour in the event that you are sporting a darker coif than you would ideally prefer. The acids within the drink help to dissolve & weaken the dye. It might seem strange, but the solution to your next hair colour disaster may come from the fridge rather than your bathroom cabinet.

It might sting a little bit at first, but Coca-Cola can also serve sufficiently as an operative pain neutralizer. It may not be entirely advisable to think of coke as the cure for serious injuries like breaks or strains but spray it on aggravated insect bite or an annoying bee sting & the wound will be healed quicker. That’s to the chemical compound that exists within the soda pop. Your friends may look at you like you are a little nuts as you pour coke onto the affected area of your body but in reality, you have just found a cheap, quick & little easy life hack.

The syrupy, dark brown hue of Coca-Cola does not carry the appearance of an effective cleaning product but it is comprised of chemicals that can successfully act as grime dissolvers. The cooks know that their kitchenware gets all blackened & stained after long & heavy use, so in order to avoid the heavy duty of laborious scrubbing, pour some fizzy coke into a grease stained pot or a grungy pan & let it sit for a few minutes. The coke will not clean the kitchenware but it will help to dissolve & minimize the filth making the cleaning process considerably easier & less physically draining.

While typically not a lethal barring allergy, jellyfish stings can be painful, extremely unpleasant & alarming for those who do not know how to physically react. If you happen to have refreshing can of coke nearby, you may want to consider pouring it on the affected area instead of slurping it down. By negating the effect of the venom, the soft drink can reduce the pain of jellyfish stings.

Among the many ingredients featured in Coca-Cola, the drink also includes Phosphoric Acid for a sharper flavour. The mineral acid also human hair cuticles, which serves to enhance the natural curls of one’s hair. This might be worth keeping in mind the next time you find yourself looking for an inexpensive hair curling strategy.

Anyone who has got a little too close at the gas station or has worked with petroleum products knows how difficult it is to remove the unpleasant odor of gasoline from clothes. A standard run through the laundry cycle may not even do the job of completely & thoroughly removing the smell. That is where Coca-Cola comes in as the easiest & cheapest way of getting rid of the gas smell. Simply add a can of Coke to your washer & then wash your smelly clothes.

Not sure who initially came up with the idea of dunking their penny nickel, dime or quarter in a glass of Coca-Cola but that person can be credited with salvaging plenty of rusty, rare old coins. Thanks to the acidic compounds found within Coke, even your grimiest, most oxidized pocket change can now hope to be scrubbed shiny & new again. Simply dip in the coin in some Coke for a few minutes & wash it with clean water to make it look clean.

Most toilet cleaning products contain instructions like: “Keep away from face” & “Wash hands thoroughly after use.” It may seem rather troubling, then, to think that Coca-Cola fills the same role as those items in the grocery store that carry that skull & crossbones toxic symbol. It works! Just pour the drink in the toilet bowl & wait for an hour before scrubbing or flushing the toilet. As has been demonstrated through countless video, this should be enough to bring the bowl back to being sparkling clean.

Recently a lady posted in a group that I am a member of, on social media about some negative thoughts & suspicions hitting her mind repeatedly & she was quite concerned about it. That post made me think that our thoughts are an important part of our inner wisdom. When we hold a thought long enough & repeat it often whether intentionally or unintentionally, it becomes a belief & we see those thoughts coming true. Basically, your life stems from your thoughts & you are what you think!

It is said that affirmations strengthen us by helping us believe in the potential of an action we desire to manifest. When we verbally affirm positive thoughts, we are instantly empowered with a deep sense of reassurance that our words will become reality. Affirmations are proven methods of self-improvement because of their ability to rewire our brains. Just like exercise, they raise the level of feel-good hormones & push our brains to form new clusters of “positive thoughts.”

A woman is the most vulnerable yet the strongest element of our society. She is fragile physically, yet stronger than a man. Unfortunately, women are taught to stay dependent on a man for everything, since early age. The idea of staying dependent is not bad, nor are we against it. Agreed, a woman is precious, she should be taken care of. But the idea of being dependent on a man is so strongly fed in minds of the girls that they never grow up to become a person they really want to be & this ends up suppressing all the good qualities. Girls grow up to become woman with a feeling of being inferior.

Not only this, but boys grow up to be men with the same mind set. They marry a female with the thought that they are doing a favor to her, by marrying her. But let’s think about this…  A woman changes her name, changes her home, leaves her family, moves in with you, builds a home with you, gets pregnant for you, bears children for you. Pregnancy destroys her body. She gets fat. Almost give up in the labor room due to the pain. Even the kids she delivers bear your name. Till the day she dies, everything she does benefits you, so who is really doing a favor?

While a man stays in the same home, lives with his parents. Though a woman marries the man but takes care of all his family, which is not an obligation, but she still does it. She bears the anger, bad behavior, live in all conditions with you, always stays & dedicates her existence for you.

“Woman is a delicate creature with strong emotions, who has been created by the Almighty God to shoulder responsibility for educating society & moving towards perfection. God created woman as a symbol of His own beauty & to give solace to her partner & her family.”
– Imam Ali (A.S)

A woman plays several roles in her life time. A daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a home maker, a care taker & a lot more. A woman easily adapts to any role that is required. It is said that whatever you give a woman, she is going to multiply it. If you give her a smile, she will give you her heart. If you give her give her house, she will give you a home. If you give her groceries, she will give you a meal. If you give her sperm, she will give you a baby. She multiplies & enlarges what is given to her.

As a mother a woman bears up to 57 Del (unit) of pain, which is similar to 20 bones getting fractured at a time, whereas a human body can bear up to 45 Del of pain. As a daughter she is an advantage, as a sister she is the care taker & respect, as a wife she is a soulmate & partner, as a mother she is a paradise. A woman has major roles to play, without which life is tasteless.

Basically, it is a cycle, a role that is passed on… So try to be a better player of your life & a role model for your children. It is the law of nature, whatever you do comes back to you in the same or some other shape. So be careful when dealing with women!

“If the eyes of a female cry over a man that oppressed her, the angles will curse him with every step he walks.”
– Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib (A.S)
